How to make a deep bass on the PolyBrute

The questionhow do i make a deep bass on the polybrute

A deep bass on the PolyBrute is one oscillator, tuned down, with the Ladder filter closed over it. Here it is in four moves.

38 seconds, no voice. The captions carry every step. The sound follows each move; it isn't recorded from a PolyBrute.
The short answer

Drop VCO 1 an octave, then close the Ladder filter over it.

Before you start

Start from an init patch. It plays VCO 1 on its own, through the Ladder filter.

Four steps

  1. On VCO 1, turn Tune down until its LED lights again: one octave lower.

    0:07
  2. On the Ladder Filter, bring Cutoff down until the top end is gone.

    0:13
  3. Add some Resonance. This filter keeps its low end when you do.

    0:19
  4. Push Disto for grit. It drives the filter's output harder.

    0:24

Play it low. Let it growl.

Good to know

Tune's LED lights at every octave, so you can find the next one down without counting semitones. And the Ladder filter keeps its low end as Resonance goes up.
