How to make an evolving pad on the PolyBrute

The questionhow do i make an evolving pad sound with the polybrute

An evolving pad on the PolyBrute can be as simple as a slow LFO moving the filter under notes that swell in and hang. Here it is in four moves.

44 seconds, no voice. The captions carry every step. The sound follows each move; it isn't recorded from a PolyBrute.
The short answer

Let a slow LFO keep the filter moving.

Before you start

Start from an init patch. It has no modulation set up yet, and VCO 1 plays through the Ladder filter.

Four steps

  1. On VCA ENV, push Attack and Release up so notes swell in and hang.

    0:07
  2. Set LFO 1's Waveform to the sine, then turn Rate way down.

    0:13
  3. Press Mods, hold Assign 4, nudge the Ladder Cutoff, then let go.

    0:20
  4. Tap D4, where LFO 1 meets the filter, then turn Amount until it breathes.

    0:28

Hold a chord. Let it drift.

Good to know

LFO 1 won't move the filter until the Matrix connects the two, which is what moves 3 and 4 do. The LED in LFO 1's corner flashes to show its rate, so you can watch the flashing slow as you bring Rate down. Let go of Assign 4 before you tap D4: holding it while you press a Matrix button does something else. The D4 button turns purple once the two are connected, and Amount works in either direction.
